Another player who has struggled for game-time at Kaizer Chiefs could be set to leave the club in search of more playing opportunities.

As reported at the start of this week, there has been talk that Kaizer Chiefs could be considering bidding farewell to midfielder Cole Alexander after this season.

According to the Phakaaathi publication, word on the ground suggests that out-of-favour attacker Kamohelo Mahlatsi could also be heading for the exit door.

Mahlatsi has only played a handful of games since joining Chiefs last year, and it appears that his time at Naturena could be cut short.

“What good does it do for a player to be happy about being part of a big team but not playing? Everyone wants to play and Zwane has not given Kamohelo a fair chance. The best option is for us to pack and go,” said a source within Mahlatsi’s camp, according to Phakaaathi.

Meanwhile, injuries have blighted the progress of Alexander during recent times at Amakhosi, and with an increasingly limited amount of game-time, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs will retain faith in the 33-year-old beyond this season.

According to Soccer Laduma, the player and the club may reassess their options at the end of the current campaign, particularly considering the midfielder seems to have fallen out of favour at a time when he’s been sidelined.

Alexander was said to have signed a three-year deal when he joined Chiefs in 2021, but he could possibly be put on the transfer list or released early if he is not in the technical team’s plans going forward.

“It looks certain that (Alexander) will leave at the end of the season. He is currently out with injury and I don’t think even if he recovers, that he would have that chance to play again, looking at the remainder of the season and also the players the coach prefers ahead of him,” a Soccer Laduma source commented.

CHIEFS’ SQUAD IS EXPECTED TO BE RESHUFFLED NEXT SEASON

Meanwhile, in case you missed the news, both Chiefs and Pirates have apparently set their preliminary sights on Cape Town Spurs striker Ashley Cupido according to KickOff.com.

In the second tier of SA football, Cupido – who is leading the Motsepe Foundation Championship’s goal-scoring charts – has been in impressive form, and it would be no surprise if he has indeed caught the eye of some talent scouts.

The 21-year-old, who scored a brace this past weekend to take his tally to 13 league goals for the season, is reportedly being very closely monitored as the season progresses.

As it is, KickOff reports that Chiefs have made their interest known, while Pirates are also said to be considering making a move to compete for the youngster’s signature.
