A Pretoria High Court advocate has requested clarity as to why no warrant of arrest was issued for slain sportsman Senzo Meyiwa’s girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo.

This came after new evidence from accused one, Muzi Sibiya and two, Bongani Ntanzi, in the case suggests that Khumalo had ordered Meyiwa’s hit for R100,000.

An application for an arrest warrant for Khumalo was made in October 2020, for which Sergeant Batho Mogola was queried over by Advocate Zandile Mshololo for the defence.

The investigation officer of the 363/10/2014 Sergeant Batho Mogola told Pretoria High Court on Wednesday during the cross examination by Advocate Mnisi that , the musician Kelly Khumalo was the mastermind behind the killing of Senzo Meyiwa .

Accuse number three on Senzo Meyiwa trial ,Mthokozisi Mncube told Advocate Mnisi that he has never met Kelly Khumalo in his life or even made a contact .

Mnisi asked Mogola on why the warrant of arrest was not issued against Kelly Khumalo . Mogola said ” Brigadier Gininda told me that he has applied for it but it was not issued ” .

“There is evidence that was led in this court regarding a warrant of arrest that was issued for Ms Kelly Khumalo,” said Mshololo.

The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was shot in Khumalo’s home on 26 October 2014 and pronounced dead at the Johannesburg hospital in what is believed to be a home invasion and robbery gone wrong.

His death sparked nationwide outrage on crime including by former FIFA president Sepp Blatter who called his murder senseless.

Khumalo, on her side, denies any wrongdoing citing she does not want to be judged in the court of public perception and prefers to maintain her silence.

The Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed on the 26 of October 2014 in Vosloorus, Home of the singer Kelly Khumalo.
