Chiefs keeping tabs on in-form Rayners

There could soon be another deal on the cards between Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC, if the latest information reaching the Siya crew’s desk is anything to go by, with the indications that Iqraam Rayners’ name has made it onto the wish-list of the Soweto giants.

Since his surprise move back to Stellies from SuperSport United in January, Rayners has been one of the in-form players for coach Steve Barker’s side as the team, whose performances have been improving in recent weeks.

The player’s incredible displays saw him becoming the first player from the Winelands-based outfit to win the DStv Premiership Player of the Month when he scooped the accolade for February/March.

During that period, the 27-year- old forward produced five goals in four matches, a feat that is said to have impressed the Glamour Boys, who will be looking to further boost Arthur Zwane’s squad for next season.

At the end of last 2021/22, Amakhosi did manage to sign Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika from Stellenbosch, while Phathutshedzo Nange had also been lured from the club.

According to sources, Rayners has become the latest target for the Naturena-based side, with the club clear about its intentions to improve in what will be Zwane’s second full season in charge.

“Chiefs has been keeping tabs on Iqraam Rayners and don’t be surprised if the club decides to make a move for him at the end of the season. It’s still early, but there is interest,” said a source.

The Soweto giants have also been linked with Junior Mendieta and Sibongiseni Mthethwa, from the same team, in recent months
