Arthur Zwane Reacts To Dolly’s Penalty Missed

Interim Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane bemoaned his team’s wasted chances in the second half against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Soweto giants came from behind to tie 1-1 with Sundowns on Sunday night, but they had their fair share of chances.

Zwane mentioned Dolly’s saved penalty as well as the fine chances that fell to late replacement Samir Nurkovic.

“I think maybe had Keagan scored the penalty it would have been a different story, ja but those things do happen in football where you get opportunities but you don’t take them,” the Chiefs coach told SuperSport after the game.

“Samir [Nurkovic] got a chance there, from a header but ja in the last nine minutes we were on top of them, we could have easily scored the winner.

“It’s one of those things, that’s football, you create goal-scoring opportunities you have to bury them, if you don’t take them yes you pay at the end of the day.

“So yes we wanted to win, not a draw but we didn’t take our chances. Congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, they are playing a good brand of football, it’s good for South Africa.

“It’s good for each and everyone to support teams that are playing good brand of football so that even our kids and the people who are coming to the stadium they must come and enjoy football and watching these players expressing themselves.”

When asked if the club’s hopes of securing CAF Champions League football were over, he added, The Amakhosi legend was asked whether they still have hopes a CAF Champions League spot. “Look, we were so much desperate, we needed maximum points but unfortunately we didn’t. We’ll carry on, keep on dealing, working hard.

“We have two games left, hopefully we can grind out results, we don’t want to rely on other teams but we’ll see how much we go and we’ll take it from there.”
