Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

Orlando Pirates have a surplus of attacking options, meaning several must leave the club to balance the books.

IS KERMIT’S PIRATES ADVENTURE OVER?

Kermit Erasmus’ Bucs contract expires in June. A source close to Soccer-Laduma reveals the club will decide on his future sooner rather than later but is leaning towards releasing the former Feyenoord, Rennes, Lens, Sundowns and SuperSport star. There are also huge doubts over the respective futures of Cameroonian star Souaibou Marou and Bafana Bafana man Zakhele Lepasa. Marou is reportedly wanted in Europe, while Lepasa’s inconsistency means he isn’t a realistic long-term number 9 ahead of Evidence Makgopa.

“He (Erasmus) is one of the players whose future will be decided at the end of the season when the club (Pirates) is making plans for next season,” said the source.

ORLANDO PIRATES FIXTURES ON THE HORIZON

The Buccaneers travel to Sekhukhune on Saturday 30 March in their next fixture kicking off at 17:45. A Soweto Derby against Swallows follows that in Dobsonville on Wednesday 3 April at 19:30. Golden Arrows visit the Sea Robbers on Saturday 6 April at 17:00, and then Jose Riveiro’s defending Nedbank Cup champions must see off AmaZulu in this season’s quarter-finals. That clash takes place on Saturday 13 April at 18:00 at Moses Mabhida. Usuthu then visit Pirates for a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday the 20th with kickoff at 17:00.

Pirates fans, what would a reasonably acceptable end to the season constitute? Second place in the league and another piece of silverware? Let us know in the comments section below.
