Kwame Peprah during the DStv Premiership 2021/22 match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Having featured for Orlando Pirates five times already, but yet to register a goal, Kwame Peprah still does certain things on the field which pleases Bucs co-coach Fadlu Davids.

Davids likes the Ghanaian striker and it seems like Peprah will be getting more game time at the club.

Peprah made his first start for Pirates during the Soweto derby clash against rivals Kaizer Chief, but couldn’t help his side get a victory as the Buccaneers went on to lose the game 2-1 at the FNB Stadium.

Davids believes Peprah was a handful for the Amakhosi defenders and that helped the club “control” the game.

“The selection really showed in terms of our dominance, how we were on top, we were controlling the game from start to finish. It really is about putting the best players on the pitch where they can produce their skills in creating chances, in really unlocking the opponents’ defence,” said the Pirates coach.

“I think Peprah did really well in his first start for the club, really unsettling the defence of Kaizer Chiefs, really in terms of his movement, in terms of his power that he has upfront and in terms of focal points, really to give us these moments to unlock the defence line.”

Peprah, who joined the Buccaneers from Ghana’s King Faisal just before the start of the season, scored 12 goals for Faisal to help the club avoid relegation last season.

The Bucs technical will surely be hoping the 20-year-old goal-poacher soon registers his name on the score-sheet for the Buccaneers.

Pirates, who are seventh on the log with 14 points after 10 games, will be looking to bounce back stronger after the international break when the travel to KwaZulu-Natal for a meeting with Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium on 20 November.
