The Better Team Lost The Soweto Derby – South African Coach
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has insisted that the he felt the better team lost in the Soweto Derby after Kaizer Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
The Belgian tactician is preparing for the crunch 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana as club football switches to international football.
Broos commented on Chiefs’ 2-1 derby victory over Pirates, saying the better team lost after Keagan Dolly’s injury-time penalty, which was caused by Pirates defender Olisah Ndah.
“Like always, such games are not always good games,” he told Bafana’s media department.
“But I find that Orlando Pirates was the better team and it was by mistake of a player that they lost the game.”
Broos, though, was happy for Amakhosi winger Dolly to net a brace ahead of the upcoming international games.
“I was very happy for Dolly again that he scored two times, ok one penalty, but he scored two times,” the Belgian added.
“The confidence will be there with him, he can be an important player for us, certainly in the game against Zimbabwe.”
South Africa, who are currently leading Group G with one point over Ghana, will take on Zimbabwe on Thursday, 11 November before hosting the Black Stars on Sunday, 14 November.
