The South African Post Office (Sapo) has announced a new set of pay dates for beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant who pick up their R350 grant at their local Post Office.

Beneficiaries should be aware that the rest of the month is dedicated to the payment of R350 SRD grants, with the exception of Thursday, 3 February to Tuesday, 8 February, when old age, disability, and child grants are paid.

Sapo said in a statement on Tuesday that recipients should wait until they receive an SMS confirming that their grant is available before going to the post office.

“Beneficiaries who only applied for one SRD grant using their phones can pick up their grant at any Pick ‘n Pay or Boxer supermarket.” A phone can only be collected from a Post Office if it was used to apply for multiple grants. This does not apply to those who choose to receive their grant in a bank account, according to Sapo.

Those picking up their grant at the Post Office should keep in mind that the last three digits of their ID number determine the day they get it.

When picking up at the Post Office, the payment schedule is as follows:

• Mondays: Beneficiaries whose ID numbers end in 082 and 087;
• Tuesdays: ID numbers ending in 083 and 088;
• Wednesdays: ID numbers ending in 084 and 089;
• Thursdays: ID numbers ending in 080 and 085;
• Fridays: ID numbers ending in 081 and 086

SRD grants will be paid until the end of March 2022, but Sapo said that beneficiaries who have not yet received their grants should not be concerned.

“All outstanding grants will be paid at Post Office branches at least until June 2022,” Sapo said.
