Seven People Were Killed In A Taxi Accident .

 

Seven people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident on the R61 outside Aberdeen early on Monday morning.

The Eastern Cape Transport Department said a fully-loaded mini-bus taxi heading to the Western Cape crashed into a stationary recovery vehicle at the site where a broken-down bus was being repaired.

Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says the taxi overturned killing six people, including the driver.

He says the 7th victim died on arrival at hospital.

He said the deceased were two women and a man as well as four children, two boys and two girls.

Binqose says 18 other people were injured and taken to Aberdeen and Midlands Hospital in Graaff-Reinet for further medical treatment.

One of the victim was 15 years old boy who had a bright future ahead of him. His family released a statement through media Twitter, it reads:

On 17 January 2022, he was involved in a fatal car crash which claimed his life. At the tender age of 15, He answered heaven’s calls and is now walking alongside the angels.

He was the light in all our eyes, a brother and friend to many. His memory will continue to beat in our hearts as we mourn his death.

Rest in Peace Bafo, you will always be in our hearts 🕊 ”
