Roaming In The Streets: Former Mamelodi Sundowns Footballer
After going missing for weeks, a former PSL star was discovered enraged on the streets. Sportspeople delight us when they do what they are paid to do, but the public has little understanding of what they go through behind the scenes.
People frequently treat any issue with an athlete’s health as purely physical, forgetting that the psyche plays an important role as well. Mental health issues have long been overlooked, particularly depression, both during and after high-paying employment.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns footballer Khayelihle Shozi was reported missing a few weeks ago, and his family was seeking for help in finding him. Celebrities have also chimed in, disseminating the same information in the hopes of finding him.
His photographs began to circulate on social media as search efforts intensified, with reports circulating that he was last spotted eating leftovers from the bins while also collecting unknown items. The former footballer had changed, now coated in grime, wearing ripped clothes, and walking around without shoes.
Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena was also involved in the search for him, and one Twitter user responded to his message by saying, “He was observed in Richards Bay Coach.” People were and still are pained by Shozi’s situation, which began shortly after his time with Sundowns ended.
