Revealed Teboho Mokoena’s Next Destination Team.
Teboho Mokoena, a SuperSport United midfielder, has agreed personal terms to join Mamelodi Sundowns, with the clubs in advanced talks regarding a cost for the Bafana Bafana star.
Mokoena, 24, is undoubtedly the hottest property in the DStv Premiership right now, and Sundowns have jumped ahead of their competitors in their pursuit of his services this month.
Kaizer Chiefs were also interested in signing him, but the player has agreed to join Sundowns, however one other team is also interested.
Anderlecht, a Belgian club that has been chasing Mokoena for some time, has entered the picture late and could possibly snare the 24-year-old, but talks over a prospective trade have only just begun.
“We’ve accepted personal terms with Sundowns, and now it’s club-to-club conversations over a cost,” Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin told TimesLIVE on Friday morning.
“Those debates are likewise far advanced. Sundowns are eager to sign the player within the current transfer window.”
Binkin verified Chiefs’ interest, but believes they are no longer in the running, and that the only viable alternative to Sundowns is a relocation outside.
“There has been interest from European clubs, yet it is tough to obtain transfers overseas in the current climate.” Many clubs are consolidating, making it harder to obtain a transfer unless they have a clear need for a specific player.
“However, Anderlecht has enquired, and we will communicate with them to learn more about their position.” They’ve been keeping an eye on Teboho for a while and know he’s a good player.”
Mokoena has been linked to Chiefs alongside Sipho Mbule, a fellow product of the Harmony Academy in the Free State and a SuperSport and South African Under-23 midfielder.
