Mfundo Vilakazi, a wonderkid for Kaizer Chiefs, appears to have been kicked out of the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team.

According to the Soccer Laduma, Vilakazi was demoted from the Amakhosi reserve team and has missed the team’s last two matches against AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC.

Mfundo Vilakazi, the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team, has been kicked out.

The DDC team of Kaizer Chiefs defeated AmaZulu 2-0, but Stellenbosch FC lost 2-1.

Vilakazi was a member of the Kaizer Chiefs under-17 team.

According to the source, ‘Obrigado’ was sent to train with the Soweto giant’s under-17 team, where he appeared in a match against Aces this past weekend.

Many will be surprised by the news, which comes after The South African website reported that Vilakazi made a stunning debut for the Amakhosi reserves in January, scoring within minutes of coming off the bench in a 4-1 win over Chippa United.

However, it appears that coach Vela Khumalo is not convinced that the youngster is ready to make the step up.

The reasons for Khumalo’s decision to drop the teenager from the team are unknown.

However, according to a Soccer Laduma source, Khumalo felt it was best to keep Vilakazi away from the rest of the team for the time being.

Vilakazi, who is only 15, rose to prominence while representing Doornkop Students at the Phillys Games in Tembisa last December.
