Ramahlwe Mphahlele, a former defender for Kaizer Chiefs, has been keeping himself occupied with a non-football job while he waits for teams to approach him.
Ramahlwe Mphahlele, a Kaizer Chiefs defender who was released, appears to be enjoying his time off as he has been occupied with activities that have distracted him from being released by Amakhosi. Mphahlele was one of the players whose contracts the Chiefs decided not to renew, forcing him to leave Naturena.
He was, nonetheless, a crucial Chiefs leader and occasionally wore the armband. He recently shared a photo of a house being built, and it is clear that he is helping to complete the project.
Currently referred to as “Rama” Mphahlele, he is a free agent and looking for work. Prior to the 2016–17 season, the defender transferred from Mamelodi Sundowns to Chiefs. His Amakhosi debut occurred on August 23, 2016, against Wits, on the first day of the DStv Premiership season. In his six seasons with the Glamour Boys, he participated in 127 official matches while under the direction of various coaches.
AmaZulu in KwaZulu-Natal has been strongly linked to the former Mamelodi Sundowns captain, but Usuthu chairman Sandile Zungu has denied the rumor. “I only saw the Mphahlele issue on the papers. I think we are done with our signings for this season,” he said as per The South African.
“We can’t sign more than we have now, I think we’ve got a very strong team. I think you need to look at the players we’ve signed to see how strong we are. Starting with George Maluleka, Ethan Brooks, Gabadinho Mhango, Augustine Kwem, Dumsani Zuma, Veluyeke Zulu, Thendo Mukumela, Riaan Hanamub, Rally Bwalya.
“I mean if you look at all those players, those are quality players… And add to that what I already have in the form of Sphesihle Maduna, the likes of Lehlohonolo Majoro who is fully fit and back. Bonginkosi Ntuli is post-recovery now and is about to join the team on the field. And you have the likes of Abbubaker Mobara so it’s a quality team.”
