PSG Player Won’t Be Available Due To Illness
The Argentine – who has more Ballon d’Ors than anybody and two more than Cristiano Ronaldo now – has fallen ill after the ceremony in Paris, suffering from a stomach bug.
Messi has been starting to settle in at PSG in recent weeks after a relatively slow start by his standards, and he played a crucial role in their win over Saint-Etienne last time out as he provided three assists in a 3-1 comeback win.
But the world’s best player hasn’t escaped controversy despite his latest Ballon d’Or, with many people believing that Robert Lewandowski should have taken the prize, having missed out on the 2020 award due to France Football taking the decision to cancel last year’s edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Lionel Messi and Leandro Paredes didn’t participate in today’s training session due to symptoms of gastroenteritis,” PSG said in a statement on Tuesday.
“A further check will be done on Wednesday.”
Now, PSG will be hoping that Messi has recovered in time for their trip to take on Lens on Saturday.
