PSG NEW TALISMAN Finally Returns To Training

Paris Saint-Germain have been handed an early boost during the international break with Sergio Ramos returning to group training, according to reports.

Le Parisien have detailed that the former Real Madrid captain, who is yet to make his debut for PSG since arriving on a free in the summer, joined in with PSG’s training session at their Camp de Loges training facility.

PSG had a depleted group available for training due to international break call-ups but Ander Herrera, Juan Bernat or Mauro Icardi were among those to report to the club’s base.

Ramos has had a nightmare since leaving Real Madrid for PSG.

Last week marked six months since Ramos’ last competitive appearance in the game – a Champions League semi-final defeat to Chelsea on May 5 – with the 35-year-old picking up a calf problem over the summer.

It has been frustrating for Ramos as well as club management but his reported return to full team training paves the way for him to target a home game to Nantes on November 20 to make his PSG debut.

Should he be fit enough to feature against Nantes and make a lasting impression on boss Mauricio Pochettino, he would also be available for PSG’s Champions League clash away at Manchester City four days later, in what would be his European debut for the club.

Ramos signed a two-year contract believed to be worth around £250,000 a week, meaning the Spaniard has collected £4million from PSG without kicking a single ball for them.

Last week there were some reports surfacing in France that PSG and Ramos were considering terminating his deal due to his ongoing fitness woes.

But his brother, and agent, Rene dismissed that out of hand and said he would go on to play his part for the French giants.

Rene Ramos told Spanish publication El Mundo: ‘Sergio is not planning to retire or break his contract.

‘There is no doubt about Sergio. It’s a physical problem, he will play when he can.’

PSG sporting director Leonardo has been left angry at speculation over Ramos’ premature departure, a move which would cost the club around £20m in severance payments if carried out.

Speaking recently to reporters in a press conference, he said: ‘We know Ramos has had an injury.

‘The Spanish press are playing games, we all knew he had a problem. We know what’s happening here.’
