Players whose contracts with Orlando Pirates are set to expire in June
The Orlando Pirates have a number of players whose contracts are up at the end of June, and they need to keep them on board.
The Buccaneers are infamous for keeping player contracts under wraps, and The South African has only uncovered four players whose contracts are up for renewal in the next six months.
Of course, this means that more players may be waiting to hear about their future prospects before next season.
JELE HAPPY
Jele is on a one-year contract with the Pirates, which means he’ll have to meet with management soon to determine his future.
Nonetheless, given Jele’s devotion to the Pirates, the possibility of him signing a pre-contract with another team is nil.
After all, the 35-year-old has spent his entire professional career with the Pirates, and if he still wants to play, a contract extension is likely.
NDLOVU SIPHESIHLE
Ndlovu signed a three-year contract with Pirates in 2019 after leaving Maritzburg United.
Because of his lack of game time, Ndlovu is one player who should reassess his future.
Ndlovu, 25, is in the peak of his career and should be playing consistently, but that hasn’t been the case this season for Pirates.
MPONTSHANE SIYABONGA
By coming in for the injured Richard Ofori, Mpontshane has done well for himself and the Buccaneers this season.
And his situation is unique in that the Pirates have the option to extend his contract for an additional year in June.
While Pirates undoubtedly require younger goalkeepers, Mpontshane’s presence is unquestionably what they will require in the next years.
WAYNE SANDILANDS
Sandilands’ final season as a Pirates player could be his last after rumors surfaced in 2021 that he might take up the post of goalie coach.
Sandilands, in reality, had previously been working as both a player and a goalkeeper coach, and he was offered a one-year contract at the time.
