Evidence Makgopa of Baroka and Bafana Bafana is allegedly close to joining Orlando Pirates ahead of next season.
Even though he hasn’t been scoring goals consistently for Baroka this season, Makgopa has had a great career thus far. According to Soccer Laduma, Makgopa is on his way to Pirates, where he will fight against other international attackers.
At the moment, Pirates’ strikers include Kwame Peprah, Gabadinho Mhango, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Terrence Dzvukamanja, and Zakhele Lepasa, and a change of scenery with healthy competition may be just what Makgopa’s career needs to flourish again next season.
With Baroka on the verge of relegation to the GladAfrica Championship, Makgopa might be lost to them in the upcoming transfer window.
“Evidence Makgopa is preparing for a move to Orlando Pirates at the end of the season. Pirates are also ready to welcome him as one of the new players for next season. So, he won’t be affected by what happens at Baroka even if the team gets relegated,”.
Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele released a statement about Makgopa and it reads:
“Evidence Makgopa has not signed with any team, and he’s still on sale. Any team that can pay the enough or bid can have him. There is no deal with Pirates, but Pirates know where to find Evidence if they want HIM. Not only Pirates, anyone.”
