Orlando Pirates outbid Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns to sign top winger
Orlando Pirates are reportedly looking to recruit Kaizer Chiefs’ top winger Tshepang Moremi during the upcoming transfer window.
The Orlando Pirates are apparently interested in signing AmaZulu’s best winger, Tshepang Moremi.
This season, the 24-year-old attacker has only scored once in the Betway Premiership with Usuthu. According to Soccer Laduma, the Buccaneers could sign Moremi in the next transfer window if they are unable to secure Polokwane City striker Oswin Appollis.
Kaizer Chiefs were also thought to be interested in the AmaZulu star, but it appears that the Orlando Pirates have surpassed them.
“As I’ve said, it will all depends on all the talks and negotiations but it could involve money and player exchange as well. The value of the player and what AmaZulu want from Pirates could also determine the whole deal at the day,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Orlando Pirates set to grab Kaizer Chiefs target?
This past January transfer window, the Buccaneers did not bring in any new players. Coach Jose Riveiro told reporters that he was pleased with his team this season.
The Orlando Pirates have outperformed the Kaizer Chiefs this season, with a 12-point margin between the two teams. This season, Amakhosi has signed ten players but has not signed Moremi. A few weeks ago, Soccer Laduma revealed that the Chiefs were interested in signing the outstanding forward.
“Things are looking tighter and tighter for Chiefs to sign Appollis, especially in January when they need him most,” an inside source stated. “So, club management and the technical team are focused on AmaZulu FC winger Tshepang Moremi as a contingency. He fits the bill if they can’t secure Appollis.”
It’s unclear if the Orlando Pirates will be able to capture another Amakhosi target. Masanadawana’s signing of Jayden Adams seemed to put an end to their quest.
For the upcoming season, where should Tshepang Moremi go?
