Orlando Pirates make a huge offer to Stellenbosch, too good to refuse?

A huge problem position addressed?

Orlando Pirates pipped Stellies to the post last season for a Caf Champions League spot. Now they want to take their best players to rub salt in the wound.

ORLANDO PIRATES WANT VAN ROOYEN

According to iDiski Times, Orlando Pirates have made an official bid to Stellenbosch for their skipper Deano van Rooyen.

Pirates want to bolster their options at the back with a player plus cash offer for Deano van Rooyen. The 27-year-old has been a rock-solid performer for Stellies, only missing nine league encounters in the last four completed campaigns. 111 appearances out of 120 shows how dependable and durable he is at this level. Pirates have Thabiso Monyane, Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu vying for the right-back spot.

“Orlando Pirates have made an official approach for Stellenbosch FC captain Deano van Rooyen ahead of the new season. Pirates have now made a bid for his services to Stellenbosch, who are also keen to retain him, having recently tabled a contract extension offer. However, iDiski Times understands the club is resigned to losing their influential leader, who’s spent his entire professional club career with the Cape Winelands outfit. Should Pirates reach an agreement with Stellenbosch and personal terms are finalised, Van Rooyen will become their latest signing of the window after the likes of Thalante Mbatha, Selaelo Rasebotja, Gilberto and Thuso Moleleki.”
