Signing soon? Ex-Burnley striker impressing at Orlando Pirates!

Orlando Pirates recently welcomed Tremaine Eastmond for assessments and according to reports, he’s a goal machine at training.

Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for yet another striker in the off-season.

Pirates are believed to already be closing in on DRC striker Andy Boyeli but that doesn’t seem to be enough.

They’re also believed to be in the race for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan, with archrivals Kaizer Chiefs. The club was already active in the recently concluded January transfer window. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Just last week, it was rumoured that they’re monitoring veteran Swati goal machine Sabelo Ndzinisa. Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Pirates had welcomed former Burnley youth academy striker Tremaine Eastmond for assessments. Now according to the latest reports from Soccer-Laduma the player has impressed at Bucs training.

“The boy is good (Eastmond). He is very good. You really wonder how and why Cape Town Spurs were not using him. At training he is scoring goals left, right and centre. He has impressed everyone. From the technical team to the players and management. Obviously the way things are, they are going to sign him. They (Pirates) will apparently tie him down now but may only start using him next season.” Said the source.

This update is a stark contrast from the previous one which suggested Pirates might pass up on Eastmond. It was suggested then that the Buccaneers were hoping to go the more experienced route with their striker signings.

It would be interesting to see if Eastmond will impress at Pirates. This especially since he was deemed not good enough by Cape Town Spurs who are relegation threatened. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to overhaul their striking department at the end of the season. Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou are all thought to be heading for the exit door.
