The Orlando Pirates are hoping not to repeat their summer signing drought this winter.

In January, they set their sights on Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi, a Polokwane duo, but months of talks ended in failure. It might be argued that their pursuit of the pair diverted them from acquiring other players, such Jaedin Rhodes.

Like Appollis, the former PSL Young Player of the Year is another January acquisition that the Orlando Pirates wasted and will try to entice in the offseason.

Given that Rhodes is only 21 years old and has already made 74 appearances in the top flight, it appears that the Cape Town City maestro has many more years to realize his full potential.
