One dead after Operation Dudula and Chicken Farm residents clash
Tensions soaring in Pimville after man dies during Pimville residents and Operation Dudula march against cable theft
Police confirmed that one person was gunned down and another injured after a clash broke out between a group of Pimville residents, alongside members of Operation Dudula, and an unknown group on Monday.
In a statement, provincial spokesperson Brenda Muridili revealed that an altercation broke out after residents of Pimville with Operation Dudula members marched to Chicken Farm informal settlement in Kliptown against cable theft.
According to Muridili, the wounded victim was shot in the leg, while the deceased was reported to have died on scene.
Police also confirmed they were tracing reports of other injuries.
Operation Dudula leader, Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini claimed in a tweet that they were attacked with “AK47s and R5s in a South African community” by “Zimbabweans and Sotho nationals” while they were attending to “cable theft”.
