Naturena | Kaizer Chiefs may lose one of their major player to European clubs.

When you’re playing for Kaizer Chiefs and scouts are allegedly following you in Europe, things are not too bad.

It’s not hyperbole to say that Kaizer Chiefs never choose the wrong goalkeepers. According to reports, scouts in Europe plan to keep an eye on the club’s newest number one.

As we all saw last year, Daniel Akpeyi initially claimed the Amakhosi gloves before Lee Baxter, the former goalkeeper coach, told Stuart Baxter, the former coach, that Petersen was the best at Naturena.

The Ajax Cape Town academy graduate quickly seized the number one spot before an injury prior to Bafana Bafana duty and an apparent error saw coach Arthur Zwane quickly replace him with Bruce Bvuma in the season’s final games.

Despite appearing to lose his starting spot late last season, reports suggest that the former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper had already done enough to catch the attention of a couple of talent scouts.

“Soccer Laduma has been informed that the 27-year-old has in the past had his name circulating in Europe for any clubs looking for a quality goalkeeper,” the outlet reported in their latest edition.

“But with the COVID-19 pandemic circulating the market, those conversations didn’t pick up momentum.

“The coming season could be a big one and open that door again for Petersen, leaving Chiefs to consider whether to give him new terms or invite bids for his services,” the publication concluded.
