Mamelodi Sundowns Star To Retire After Current Season?
Denis Onyango, one of the players who started the domination of Sundowns, is likely to retire after the current season.
According to sources close to the club, Onyango is set to retire when his current contract ends at the end of the season.
He is expected to take a role in the technical team from next season.
Onyango’s Career At Sundowns
Onyango joined Sundowns back in 2011 from now-defunct Mpumalanga Black Aces.
He struggled to cement a place in the star-studded side before he was sent out on loan to now also defunct Bidvest Wits for the season 2013/2014.
Upon his return, he went on to win 16 trophies to add to his three league titles he won at Supersport United between 2007 and 2010.
Onyango’s Current Season
Since the arrival of Ronwen Williams from Matsatsantsa before the start of the 2022/2023 season, the Ugandan had to rely on cameo appearances to get game time.
In the current season, he has featured three times for Sundowns, in what is likely to be his last season as a player.
