Mamelodi Sundowns star left the club for a new green pastures.

After the collapse of his potential transfer to Kaizer Chiefs due to a deadlock with Mamelodi Sundowns over Thembinkosi Lorch, a Saudi Arabian club has expressed interest in the talented attacker.

Lorch is one of five players Sundowns was looking to send off for a loan during the January transfer window.

The former Orlando Pirates ace was signed by former Downs coach Rulani Mokwena, who left the club just before the start of the season. Following Mokwena’s departure to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, Lorch finds himself left in the cold.

Wanted by Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, the South African international was hoping to cross the floor to Naturena. However, Amakhosi could not meet Sundowns’ valuation of the player and the deal collapsed.

Reports are that The Brazilians have since offered the 31-year-old to Wydad Casablanca on loan. Per FarPost

Mamelodi Sundowns have reached an agreement with Wydad Athletic Club for the loan of midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch.

Lorch joined Sundowns in January 2023 from Orlando Pirates for in undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old made 27 appearances in all competitions and scored seven goals since joining the Betway Premiership champions.

The Free State-born winger won his first ever league title with Sundowns, but due to lack of game-time he saw himself only making six appearances this season.

As first called by SABC Sport, Lorch left Sundowns and is set to join Wydad AC on a six-months loan. This is the third time he will be coached by Rulani Mokwena, first at Pirates and later at Sundowns.

With the Moroccan transfer window closing on Friday, The Red Castle are pushing to finalise the deal before deadline day and have him registered for the league. (Source : Sinethemba Makonco)
