One of the PSL’s best players couldn’t possibly be leaving overseas soon.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa’s presence in the PSL has made it a happier league.

This season, the 26-year-old has seven goals and five assists in twelve games, demonstrating his lethal skill in front of goal while also showing the remarkable ability to throw a killer pass when the opportunity presents itself.

With twenty-three points more than the next-best Mamelodi Sundowns, Costa played a key role in Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominant 2023–24 campaign.

Costa to Europe?

Brazilians coach Miguel Cardoso has hinted that Costa’s time in Pretoria could be short lived, saying, “one of the things I said to Lucas when I arrive here, knowing that he was performing well in the league, was to try to tell him that there are always things that can be done,

“So, try to make him understand the that he should have to continue to develop himself, [that] should be present everyday in his life,

“We work hard on the mindset of the players a lot. I think the message is entering most of them, with commitment, with the work, with the strong mindset of getting better, with respect for everyday work,

“Lucas can go further on. We should profit as much as possible while we can from him and let’s hope the club can keep him for long because he is a very important player,

“Lucas is a player to play at a high level, international, no doubt.”

The exciting attacker was being watched by Championship team Burnley earlier in the season, but one can only believe that the top leagues are where Costa belongs, and if he has another successful season, they might come knocking.
