Mamelodi Sundowns set to part ways with their top star.
Sundowns spent R15 million to get the star to go for free.
The management of Mamelodi Sundowns FC plans to sever connections with a player who was acquired for a reported R15 million.
According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns has made a significant choice about the future of one of their international talents.
Due to their roster’s abundance of skill, many Brazilian players struggle to get regular playing time.
Furthermore, the club is reportedly willing to let go of Bolivian sensation Erwin Saavedra.
Although Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly paid R15 million for him in 2022, the attacker only made 13 appearances for the team because of ongoing injury problems and competition for playing time.
Does this mean the Bolivian star’s time at Mamelodi Sundowns is over?
“Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out the way everyone had hoped and the club I’m told are ready to cut ties with him at the end of the season,” an insider at Mamelodi Sundowns told Citizen.
“You never know in football and things can change quickly and he might get game time and do well but at the moment, talk is that he will be let go at the end of the season to try and get his career back on track elsewhere.”
