Mamelodi Sundowns are set to part ways with one of their star.

Mamelodi Sundowns look set to offload one of the club’s international midfielders who has struggled with game-time since joining the club over a year ago.

Downs signed Erwin Saavedra in 2022 on a two-year deal, and as previously reported by the Soccer Laduma, the the last few months of the current campaign will be key in deciding the future of the attacker.

The Bolivian international has struggled with injuries since his arrival, and only made five appearances for Masandawana, with Siya sources revealing that his future is up in the air.

Indications are that a lack of game-time and holding a foreign spot, are key factors in assessing the player’s immediate future.

“For now its as good as done. He will be leaving at the end of the season. They have looked at his salary and the fact that he is an international who is not playing most of the time.

“Its not fair on both parties. So they have decided to terminate his contract at the end of the season,” the source said.

Since joining the team, the 27-year-old has clocked only 138 minutes which the technical team sees as minimal. It is understood that the player is not closed off to a return to South America.
