Sundowns show interest in signing Pirates winger.
DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns are thought to be interested in signing an Orlando Pirates attacker ahead of next season.
Sundowns already have an embarrassment of richest at their disposal, but are believed to have reignite their interest in Vincent Pule from Pirates.
Pule has had two troubled seasons for Pirates, with both injuries and a general lack of game time seeing him become less and less of an important figure at the Buccaneers.
Even at that, it is believed that the lanky winger still forms part of coach Jose Riveiro for next season, and with the Soweto giants having secured their status as a CAF Champions League side, it could make sense to see the player retained both for his ability and experience, with the club needing to build squad depth.
Pule’s priorities might be tested, however, as it is being reported by Soccer-Laduma that not only are Sundowns interested in the player, but their crosstown rivals SuperSport United are too.
“The situation is that Pirates want to (keep Pule) but at the same time Sundowns and SuperSport United want him. Its a 50/50 situation for all the teams interested.
“It’s either he goes on loan to SuperSport or Sundowns buys him. You know that’s football, and anything could happen.” Said a source to the same website.
It is likely that Pule would be a squad player if he stays at Pirates, seeing that the club already have a firing forward line led by Monnapule Saleng.
On top of that, there is still Thembinkosi Lorch and his understudy Relebohile Ratomo, who is expected to have a more prominent role in the first next season, in what the club would hope will be the 17-year-old’s proper breakthrough season.
At Sundowns, they are already spoilt for choice themselves meaning Pule would just be adding depth there too.
At 31-years-old, SuperSport would probably be his best options as he would get more game time and still play continental football.
