Latest Updates On Happy Mashiane’s Future at Chiefs

Chiefs may hang onto to their younger star  after all!

Ashley du Preez, a highly rated young Stellies striker, was recently confirmed as a Chiefs signing, but speculations suggested that out-of-favour Happy Mashiane could be offloaded in the process.

According to rumours, if Du Preez was to join Naturena on a cash-plus-player deal, Happy Mashiane may follow him to Stellenbosch, where he would hope to get more game time after his career had lately stalled at Amakhosi.

After the intervention of Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung Snr, the Chiefs reportedly secured a cash-only deal for Du Preez.

Sources told KickOff.com that the 24-year-old will stay at Naturena because he is also on the radar of newly-appointed head coach Arthur Zwane.

The current Chiefs recruitment drive has received a lot of attention.

Meanwhile, Yusuf Maart, captain of Sekhukhune United, is not expected to join Chiefs.

It’s clear that the Chiefs are looking to rebuild their squad in order to be more competitive next season, and after signing Siyethemba Sithebe on a pre-contract from AmaZulu, reports recently suggested that the Chiefs are closing in on Maart.

According to some sources, the offer was expected to be accepted, but Sekhukhune United CEO Jonas Malatji has since told SowetanLive that he expects Maart to stay with the club because the offers he has received are not good enough.

“Yusuf isn’t going as things stand. Remember, I am not a selling team. If you really need my player, when I say give me one cent you must give me that one cent… don’t say you’re going to give me half cent,” Malatji explained.
“Yes, I have been approached by a few clubs, unfortunately I won’t reveal their names, but the figures they tell me about don’t even come close to what I am asking for.”
