Lamar Odom : “I’d still be Married If I protected my wife like Will Smith did at the Oscars”.

Will Smith’s recent Oscars brawl with Chris Rock has served as a wake-up call for Lamar Odom’s previous marriage.

The 42-year-old former basketball player weighed in on the weekend’s chaos at the 94th Academy Awards by comparing it to his marriage to Khloé Kardashian, 37.

Smith, 53, wrote on his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 29, that he “does not condone violence towards anyone,” but that he “truly loves his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.”

As previously reported, the actor walked up on the Oscars stage on March 27 to hit Rock across the face after he joked about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head while presenting an award. (Pinkett Smith has alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss.)

While many have chastised the King Richard actor for getting physical with the comedian, Odom believes the most important lesson in the event is Smith’s love for his wife.

Lamar Odom, a former NBA player, claims that if he had protected his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian, they would still be married.

Odom was reacting to American actor Will Smith’s assault on comedian Chris Rock over a joke about the latter’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom married in 2009, and their divorce was finalized in 2016.

The former basketball player wrote, “He loves his wife. I do not condone violence against anyone. #willsmith loves #jadapinkettsmith. I was told love covers a multitude of sins.♥️

“I see everyone arguing the merits of this altercation, taking sides, dragging them both to hell when it all boils down to love. He loves his wife. She was hurting, it is a husband’s responsibility to protect his wife.

“That is what he vowed to God and her, he owes us ZERO explanation as to why he chose to hit #chrisrock, he did what a husband is called to do. Protect his wife, from anything and anyone who causes her pain.

Odom went on to compare the situation to his previous marriage to Kardashian, which ended due to his substance usage issues. The couple, who married in 2009, divorced in 2016 after the reality star attempted for years to help Odom with his addiction.

“Had I protected my wife versus mentally, emotionally and spiritually hurting her, I may still be married.

“Let’s use this as a teaching moment, let’s learn to set boundaries, let’s learn to be humble, let’s learn to embrace and forgive each other in the midst of our trials and tribulations versus sitting on a throne of judgement.
