In front of her 2-year-old granddaughter, a woman in KZN was killed.
A 42-year-old woman was fatally shot on Saturday morning in front of her 2-year-old granddaughter in Ginger Road in Waterloo, KZN.
A woman’s body was discovered lying face down on the lounge floor when Reaction Unit of South Africa officers arrived at the scene at around 9:20 in the morning.
The woman died after receiving gunshot wounds to her head and abdomen. Also found in the living room, traumatized, was the granddaughter, age 2. In the bedroom when their mother was being shot were the woman’s daughter (19) and son (24).
RUSA officers were told by the 19-year-old daughter that she overheard a man questioning her mother about the whereabouts of her children. When she walked out of the room, she noticed a man with a gun pointing at her mother.
When the gunman opened fire on her, her mother screamed and told her to run. The daughter and her brother smashed the bedroom window and fled the house right away.
The 19-year-old daughter suffered a deep laceration to her left arm from broken window glass while fleeing. She told the officers she didn’t recognize the shooter who walked away from the house casually.
The 2-year-old was not hurt during the shooting of her grandmother in the house, but she was traumatized as a result.
Arrests have not yet been made.
