According to the source, “the cops arrived to settle the situation.”

Lesedi Kapinga of Mamelodi Sundowns was fortunate to escape with his life after two ladies attempted to attack him with a knife at his home in Kyalami, outside of Midrand, last Monday (February 28).

It’s unclear how the women got into his home, but it’s thought he held a small gathering with friends, and the two ladies were also guests of the brilliant player.

According to a report in the Sunday World, a quarrel broke out at the house between Kapinga and the women, who then attacked him. According to the complaint, one of the women then produced a knife after beating him with chesa mpama.

“When the cops arrived to quiet the situation, they demanded to see the knife that had been used to attack Lesedi. “One of the ladies produced the knife and delivered it to the cops,” one of the eyewitnesses who requested anonymity said in the report.

Just five days after the alleged incident, Kapinga was a part of the Sundowns team that lost to Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership last Saturday.

On Tuesday evening, he was absent from the team for their Nedbank Cup match against Mathaithai FC from the second tier.

The incident was confirmed by Gauteng police spokesman Mavela Masondo, who did not give the victim’s name.

“On Monday, a report of assault was filed at the Midrand Police Station. Two people have been detained and charged with common assault in connection with domestic violence.”
