With Stuart Baxter in charge, Shabalala’s chances of being promoted to the Chiefs first team appear to be slim. Baxter prefers experienced players.

After allegations surfaced in January 2022 that the attacker was wanted for trials in Spain, the Chiefs may lose Shabalala to an international club.
