Kaizer Chiefs: THREE attackers to leave, SIX linked.

Wholesale changes are expected in a Kaizer Chiefs attack that managed a dismal 25 goals in 30 league appearances.

KAIZER CHIEFS LINKED WITH EVERY PLAYER AND HIS DOG

ATTACKING CHANGES AREN’T A LUXURY, THEY’RE A NECESSITY

In the silly season, Amakhosi have been linked to every player and his dog. However, some tumours are more credible than others. Iqraam Rayners, Andy Boyeli and Lebo Mothiba are candidates to fill the number 9 vacancy, while Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana and Luther Singh could all add quality from the wide areas.

Christian Saile has been generally underwhelming, Ashley Du Preez isn’t the answer through the middle, a late-season brace for Ranga Chivaviro can’t paper over the cracks of a dismal season and the less we say about Jasond Gonzalez the better. This trio could all leave, for different reasons. Keagan Dolly’s future is also FAR from clear.

IT’S NOT AS SIMPLE AS THAT THOUGH, IS IT

Buying a bunch of strikers doesn’t guarantee goals. Everybody knows that coherent football teams are better at creating chances and that starts at the back. Can Amakhosi trust Bruce Bvuma as the man to start their attacking sequences from the back? Are Sibongiseni Mthetha, Siyethemba Sithebe and Samkelo Zwane proficient enough to take the ball off their centre backs, spin away from markers and progress it through the lines? Is Nkosingiphile Ngcobo ready to stay fit for an entire season in the number 10 position, and if not, who can the club target to more reliably fill that role? If Nasreddine Nabi is in charge of this group, what will his approach be? More questions than answers now, that’s for sure.

NABI THE ENTERTAINER

FAR Rabat boss Nasreddine Nabi has reiterated his desire to ‘put on a good show’ for the supporters to enjoy and shared the secret to his team’s productivity in front of goal this term. They’ve scored 63 times in 29 matches, 14 more than any other side in the division. This revelation will be particularly pleasing for Kaizer Chiefs fans, who always demand entertaining, attack-minded football. The Glamour Boys only scored 25 times in 30 DStv Prem matches in 2023-2024. That’s an abysmal record that needs to change. Maybe we can expect the Tunisian tactician to focus on that area of the pitch, even if it means conceding more goals.

WHAT DO YOU THINK KAIZER CHIEFS NEED TO DO IN THIS WINTER WINDOW?
