Could Chiefs striker search land on Cameroonian star?

It’s no secret that Chiefs have been looking for a striker to add to their squad, and a new name has now been linked with the club.

Since last season concluded, Chiefs have dramatically overhauled their squad in hopes of breaking their PSL title drought, and the team has begun building momentum in pre-season training.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the start of the new DStv Premiership campaign will commence on the weekend of 5 August. The league season will conclude on 20 May 2023 while the Nedbank Cup final which is the final match of the domestic season will be played seven days later.

Besides welcoming several new players to Naturena, Chiefs have also let others go, many of whom were deemed surplus to requirements.

Up front, Amakhosi have only signed Ashley Du Preez after releasing both Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro, while it’s reported that the club is now looking at Wayde Lekay, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Musa Kamara, who are said to be ‘on trial’ in the team camp.

According to Soccer Laduma, Cameroonian-French striker Yannick Makota – who was last on the books of Israeli side Hapoel Umm al-Fahm – could interestingly be offered to Chiefs.

Makota was born in Lyon, France, but represented Cameroon at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Apparently the centre-forward has been offered to Sekhukhune United, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, with Amakhosi reportedly keen on considering the recruitment.

Meanwhile, with the start of the season fast approaching, Chiefs have continued to release images of players back in training that are sure to increasingly excite Amakhosi fans.
