Overseas-based Nigerian star to rescue Kaizer Chiefs?

Kaizer Chiefs are looking to revamp a few playing departments ahead of next season and have reportedly targeted a Nigerian international!

Kaizer Chiefs may not have a coach yet, but are not letting that stop them from pursuing players.

It’s expected that Chiefs will eventually announce Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach, and he’ll have decisions to make.

Chiefs had their worst season in their history, in their last, after finishing the campaign in 10th place. That means they will suffer the shame of missing out on the MTN8 at the start of the next season. Now it is clear that major changes will need to take place if the club are to get back to challenging for top honours again. The addition of Nabi is one of them, the other? Player recruitment.

CHIEFS INTERESTED IN MICHAEL

According to reports Kaizer Chiefs are hot on the heels of Nigerian midfielder Kingsley Michael. He is currently on the books of Austrian side DSV Leoben.

“At the moment, it will all just depend on the talks between the player representatives and the club. The scouts have done their due diligence in checking the player and the recruiters have watched his videos. He is actually a good player and that’s why he has been part of the Nigerian national team” said one source when speaking about the links between Michael and Chiefs.

Another source points out that there could be a midfield reshuffle which could pave the way for Michael to join Chiefs.

AVAILABLE ON A FREE

“For the team to accommodate some new players, some will be let go. They are already looking at players like Tebogo Pontsane, Samkelo Zwane and others to be either loaned out or released so that they bring in new players in those areas and the Nigerian (Kingsley Michael) is one of the players on the wanted list by the club,”said the source.

One benefit Chiefs will have in their reported pursuit of Michael is that he is now a free agent.
