Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Arthur Zwane has warned that it may take time for his troops to adapt to his style of play following the 1-0 loss against Stellenbosch in a league game over the weekend.

Zwane and Dillon Sheppard were named Amakhosi caretaker coaches following the departure of Stuart Baxter last week after a string of indifferent results and several media outbursts.

The Stellies defeat at the Danie Craven Stadium was Chiefs’ second in a row, and Zwane has called for patience from the club’s supporters. according to Farpost

“Look, any change will cause some disruption because obviously, we’re trying to change the style of play,” said Zwane.

“The change will affect certain individuals. It’s for them to adapt to the way we want to play as a club because we must have some sort of an identity that even when we go out to look for players, those players can fit in our system and understand what’s expected from them.”

“We need that killer instinct, but we started training the team on Thursday, so I cannot say we’re changing things, but we’re trying not to be predictable.

“When we’re in attack and reach that final third entry, we should have that element of surprise. That’s why you see now we have to play a lot of players who are creative because we do have a lot of players who produce that individual brilliance,” added Zwane.

Amakhosi, fighting for a Caf Champions League spot, are fourth on the DStv Premiership standings, six points behind second-placed Royal AM, with six remaining games.

“Players most know our style of play and how we want to win games. We shouldn’t be about winning for the sake of winning.

“It will take some time to get things right because the games are coming thick and fast.  We want our players to believe in themselves more and believe that one of these days, we’ll punish those who’ll take us for granted.

“It will take some time, but we’re hoping that come next season, we should be ready to compete with the best. We want to go back [to the Champions League], and we want to conquer the African continent and be one of the best teams in the continent,” concluded Zwane.
