Kaizer Chiefs Are Chasing After One Of Mamelodi Sundowns Player

Kaizer Chiefs have renewed their interest in a Mamelodi Sundowns star.

Sibusiso Vilakazi has been lacking game-time at Sundowns due to tight competition and injuries, and has only made five appearances this season.

Insiders at Chiefs have indicated that Amakhosi are monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation, whose contract with Downs runs until 2024.

Chiefs are long admirers of Vilakazi and were heavily linked with the player when he left Bidvest Wits in 2016, although he ended up joining the Chloorkop-based outfit at the time instead.

Indications are that they have now reignited their interest.

According to well-placed sources, there is talk within the Amakhosi corridors that the club could make an approach for the player, as Stuart Baxter continues to rebuild the side.

The attacker has made more than 130 appearances since joining Downs, winning four league titles, the MTN8 and a CAF Super Cup.

Amakhosi and Sundowns are no strangers to transfer business, with Chiefs having secured the signatures of numerous former Downs players, including the likes of Katlego Mphela, Donald Khuse, Sizwe Motaung and more recently, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.

However, with Vilakazi under contract, there the respective clubs will need to negotiate a transfer fee, should Chiefs make a formal approach
