JUST RELEASED | New trailer for “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever,” in theaters Nov. 11, 2022.
Black Panther Stars Mourn Chadwick Boseman In Sequel
The trailer for the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is out.
It was released in the early hours of Sunday by Marvel and it showed scenes of the stars of the fictional African powerhouse nation mourning late King T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer in August 2020.
For the sequel, Marvel opted not to recast T’Challa’s role, instead focusing on the supporting cast.
The much awaited Black panther 2 trailer is here and it’s good. It struck the fine balance between sentimentality and promise for better things to come. The song choice was excellent, a mash between Bob Marley’s classic ‘No woman No cry’ , and Kendrick Lamar’s classic ‘Alright’.. 2 songs that have captured the black public consciousness as weapons of collective assurance and hope in the face of adversity
I’m warming up to Shuri as the next black panther. I would have preferred a recast of Chadwick, and with multiverse option I thought they would bring in a BP variant like Michael B Jordan, or even M’baku. But I admit it is only natural Shuri should take over since she was closest to Tchalla, and he would have wanted her to follow after him.
Now the trailer keeps it a secret who the next BP will be but it’s obvious from the slim frame that it’s a female. Also BP 2 will be the introduction of Iron Heart into the MCU ; a character I have reservations on since she is just the race and gender swapped version of Ironman.
We also got a glimpse of Namor the Indian Ocean king who will be the villain. Now according to the plot synopsis Namor will apparently try to take advantage of the power Vacuum in Wakanda and invade to conquer it. My only question is about logistics. Because according to Marvel Geography Wakanda is a landlocked country between Kenya and Ethiopia. How will he bring the Indian ocean over Wakanda as the trailer seems to suggest. Also what is an Aztec king doing all the way in the Indian Ocean
The trailer overall is good, with beautiful cinematography and I have a lot of faith in director Ryan Coogler. Furious 7 was the benchmark on how to do proper tribute movies to fallen actors and if they follow in that spirit then this movie will not just be a welcome addition to phase 4 but also an awesome send-off to Chadwick Boseman.
The movie hit theaters November 11th.
