In Alexandra, The SAPS Apprehended 209 Illegal Immigrants In Possession Of Drugs.

Acting Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Major General Girly Mbele, Johannesburg District Commissioner Major General Max Masha, and the Operational Commander Major General Mthombeni are leading ‘Operation Restore’ in Alexandra Township in Gauteng Province, with support from National Head Office and resources from Mpumalanga, Free State, and Limpopo provinces.

The operation began at 3 a.m. on Friday and is being carried out in the Johannesburg District at the same time. The goal of Operation Restore is to restore peace and order as well as public trust in law enforcement.

So far, 209 people have been detained for allegedly unlawfully entering the nation. They were arrested at Diepkloof, Soweto (116), Hillbrow (49), and Alexandra (44).

One person was also detained for illicit drug possession, while the other was detained for ammunition possession.

Stop and searches, business inspections, and routine policing continue to be conducted in the region.
