Gareth Bale, Isco & Marcelo to leave Real Madrid in summer
Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo are all set to leave Real Madrid when their contracts expire at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.
Los Blancos are also said to be open to letting five additional players depart – including Eden Hazard – to free up space on the wage bill for Kylian Mbappe.
The aforementioned trio have barely been used by Carlo Ancelotti this season, racking up just 22 La Liga appearances between them.
Bale has again endured an injury-plagued campaign, most recently failing to make the bench for El Clasico due to illness. Isco’s season has been tough too, with rumours swirling about a strained relationship with Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, Marcelo has been linked with a summer move to Fluminense as he winds his career down.
According to AS, these three players will be offered fresh terms at the end of the season, leaving them free to find a new club.
Real’s clearout is said to extend further than this too. The report mentions that the door is also open for Hazard to leave. The Belgian’s dream move to Santiago Bernabeu has been an unmitigated disaster with Real spending a club-record fee for a player who has barely contributed over the past three seasons.
Arsenal and Newcastle have been loosely linked with the forward recently but whether any club would be willing to take on his bloated contract remains to be seen.
Jesus Vallejo, Dani Ceballos, Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic could also be free to leave Madrid at the end of the season.
