Muhsin Ertugral confirms offers overseas, PSL amid Chiefs links.

Muhsin Ertugral has acknowledged receiving offers from overseas and within the PSL amidst speculation linking him to the vacant head coach position at Kaizer Chiefs.

The experienced Turkish coach has emerged as a possible contender for the Chiefs coaching gig alongside other reported. candidates.

And as Amakhosi Chiefs navigate the search for a permanent head coach after Molefi Ntseki’s departure in October 2023, Cavin Johnson currently leads the team in an interim capacity.

Notably, Johnson, who initially joined Chiefs in September 2023 as Head of Academy, has indicated his interest in assuming the head coach position permanently.

But Johnson’s potential inclusion on the Soweto giants’ shortlist remains unconfirmed, unlike Ertugral, who has admitted his attraction within the DStv Premiership coaching market.

The 64-year-old coach is no stranger to Amakhosi, having served as their head coach during the 1999/2000 season. While his first stint ended in 2002 due to inconsistent results, he departed with several trophies under his belt, including the BP Top 8 Cup, Coca-Cola Cup, and the Mandela Cup [now known as the CAF Confederation Cup].

Ertugral was back at Naturena for two more seasons between 2007 and 2009 and won the MTN8 and the Telkom Knockout.

The seasoned tactician has also led Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, Santos and Ajax Cape Town in SA.

Although he did not name any specific club, Ertugral has confirmed that he has offers from both abroad and the PSL.

“At the moment, no [on returning to the coaching scene in SA]. But I won’t rule out anything, you never know in the near future,” Ertugral told FARPost.

“I’m very busy with a great job that I have currently in the Emirates, and it makes me very happy. I have a couple of projects like in Abu Dhabi at Baniyas Sports.

“But I would love to coach, be back again because I was never away. I was with the Turkish Football national team not long ago as the head of technical and we had the [FIFA] World Cup and European qualifiers. But I would love to coach a team from the beginning of the season so I can prepare the team.

“At the moment, there are offers, but I have a great project in the Emirates that fulfils me, and I’m enjoying it.

Out of respect to my fellow coaches, I can’t reveal the PSL clubs that have approached me with offers. I’m not that type of person. I also have offers internationally and in my country [Turkey] and Egypt, but we will see.”
