ELEVEN Sundowns players out of contracts, Chiefs and Pirates to pounce?
The Brazilians could lose their best players for nothing if Pirates and Chiefs try to challenge Sundowns.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates may have a chance to make a move because Mamelodi Sundowns currently has 11 players whose contracts are about to expire in June.
Peter Shalulile, Khuliso Mudau, and Themba Zwane are notable members of this group. With nine of the previous eleven titles in the last ten years, Sundowns have established themselves as a dominant force in the Betway Premiership.
The team was able to win contract renewals for Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena last year, guaranteeing their presence for the upcoming two to three years. They run the risk of losing some of their players for nothing because Pirates and Chiefs want to compete with Sundowns.
The loss of Gaston Sirino to Amakhosi, who has since changed the Glamour Boys’ assault and scored five goals in all competitions, makes this especially pertinent.
Notable among the 11 players whose contracts are about to expire are Zwane, Mudau, and Shalulile.
Pirates and chiefs might steal the likes of Shalulile and Zwane from Sundowns.
Despite being a vital member of Sundowns’ midfield, Zwane is now out with an injury that may affect his future in Miguel Cardoso’s plans. The Chiefs will probably show interest if he becomes available.
Last year, Mudau was linked to a move to Europe, but it’s still unclear if he’ll stay at Chloorkop for the upcoming campaign.
For many years, Shalulile has been Sundowns’ main attacking danger; but, after being passed over for Iqraam Rayners, the Namibian star might find Chiefs or Pirates more desirable possibilities.
Jody February, Sipho Mbule, Sphelele Mkhulise, Devine Lunga, Terrence Mashego, Marcelo Allende, Mothobi Mvala, Musa Lebusa, and Rivaldo Coetzee are among the other players whose contracts expire in June, according to FARPost.
