Former Akwa United teammate Charles Okafor observed, “Olisa Ndah is a special breed, such a thrill to have played with him.”
Former Akwa United teammate Charles Okafor praised Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah after his Africa Cup of Nations appearance for Nigeria against Guinea-Bissau, calling him a “unique breed.”
Ndah was given some minutes in the second half when he replaced Frank Onyeka for the Super Eagles, who won 2-0 at Roumde Adija Stadium in Cameroon on Wednesday.
“Olisa Ndah is a one-of-a-kind individual. He carries the ball in an unusual manner. The personalization. The faith in yourself. Above all, whether he’s playing DM, CB, LB, or RB, he’s a natural. ” charliekafor remarked,. “It’s been such a pleasure to play with him.”
With three straight victories, Ndah and his teammates advanced to the last 16 of the competition, beating Egypt and Sudan.
Since 2019, the Pirates’ player has been a member of the national team, which is made up entirely of local players, as well as the Olympic Eagles’ Under-23 team.
His first formal call-up for the Super Eagles came against Mexico in July 2021, but he did not play, instead sitting on the bench as the Mexicans beat Nigeria 4-0 in an international friendly.
Going into the Afcon, the Bucs star and the rest of the Super Eagles group were not really thought of as a team that could be mentioned among the prospective champions of the continental competition, but after their outstanding performance, everyone now believes they have a fantastic opportunity to capture the trophy. And now, according to coach Austine Eguavoen, people are starting to respect them.
“From the first game, hardly one gave us a chance. I will continue to give credit to my players, but people have begun to respect Nigeria, but it will not permeate our minds. We were the underdogs going into the competition. “We are pleased with the growth and performance,” Eguavoen remarked in his post-match interview.
The Super Eagles’ success in the competition would undoubtedly bolster the spirit of Soweto Giants defender Ndah, allowing him to continue shining for Bucs in the DStv Premiership.
