BREAKING: PSL Found RoyalAM Guilty.

South Africa, KZN. RoyalAm

Royal AM have been found guilty of fielding an ineligible player, according to PSL Prosecutor Zola Majavu.

Royal AM were found guilty in a PSL DC hearing on Monday of playing Philani Khumalo in a 5-3 DStv Diski Challenge win over Chippa United while he was ineligible.

Royal AM and Khumalo pleaded guilty and were sanctioned, according to Majavu.

Chippa was awarded a 3-0 victory in the match, while Royal AM was given a suspended fine.

“I am providing you with an update on a matter that was served before the PSL DC earlier this afternoon,” Majavu said.

“Royal AM appeared before the DC to answer two charges of fielding a defaulter or failing to field a player who was otherwise ineligible.” Mr. Philani Khumalo took part in a Diski Challenge match between Royal AM and Chippa United Football Club.

“Mr. Khumalo and Royal AM both pleaded guilty as charged and were convicted as a result.” In terms of sanction, after hearing from the league prosecutor and the legal representatives of both respondents, the PSL DC ruled as follows.

“One: a Royal AM forfeits the match in Chippa’s favor, giving Chippa three points on a 3-0 score.

“Two: Royal AM was also fined R25,000, which was suspended for 12 months on the condition that they were not found guilty of the same offense during that time.”

“Three: Mr. Philani Khumalo was given a two-match suspension, starting from the date of the ruling if he does not exercise his right to appeal.” If he does, the sanction will be postponed until the appeal is resolved.

“For both correspondents, Mr. Khumalo and Royal AM, the costs of the sitting were directed to be paid jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be observed.”

“Those expenses are typically calculated administratively by the PSL and deducted from the affected club’s monthly grant.” Alternatively, the club can pay the fine in cash.”
