BREAKING: One Of Kaizer Chiefs Player Is Adamant About Not Leaving Naturena.
The Siya team has been told that Kaizer Chiefs offered one of their players an early exit package, which he has so far declined.
Following his move to South Africa in July 2019 under then-coach Ernst Middendorp, Kearyn Baccus is officially in the final five months of his contract at Naturena – but it now appears that his future will be away from Amakhosi at the end of the season.
According to Soccer Laduma, the midfielder was offered an early termination of his current contract due to a lack of game time and a clear indication that he was not in coach Stuart Baxter’s long-term plans.
Since signing with the Chiefs more than two years ago, Baccus’ chances of making the team have decreased significantly.
He made 21 appearances in all competitions in his first season, then 24 the following season, mostly as a substitute, as new coach Gavin Hunt juggled domestic and CAF commitments with a smaller squad due to the club’s FIFA ban on signing more.
He hasn’t kicked a ball under Baxter – only three games so far.
As a result, in January, he was offered the chance to end his contract before its actual expiration date, which is June 30 this year.
Baccus has so far rejected the terms, according to sources close to the situation, and it appears he is willing to sit it out even if it means he will not be seen much.
On Monday, the Chiefs announced the signing of seven new players, but Baccus was not among them, indicating that the midfielder is on his way out.
It remain to be seen if they will game him game time or completely frozen him for the refusal of terminating his contract. It is clear that he is not in coach’s plan when it gets to this point.
