BREAKING | Mamelodi Sundowns are ready to decoy Kaizer Chiefs player in their roster.
Manqoba Mngqithi has mentioned a Kaizer Chiefs player he admires, just days after stating that Mamelodi Sundowns are aiming to strengthen their roster for next season.
The Sundowns co-coach said that preparations for the forthcoming transfer window have already begun, with the club prioritizing the acquisition of a central midfielder, a center-back, and a striker.
Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, a fan favorite at Amakhosi, appears to be Mngqithi’s favorite player.
“There’s a young player who I thought could have really set the stage alight this season based on his performances last season, the young Nkosingiphile Ngcobo from Kaizer Chiefs,” Mngqithi told the media.
Due to injuries, Ngcobo was unable to participate in Chiefs’ 1-1 tie with Sundowns in a league match over the weekend. Mngqithi also said that if the former South African junior international had been given more playing time, he would have been a candidate for the DStv Premiership Player of the Season title.
“I believe had that boy had a lot of game-time this season, there was a lot he could have offered, but in terms of the Player of the Season, I think those that I have counted [Andile Jali, Themba Zwane, Keagan Dolly] deserve it,” added Mngqithi.
Under former coach Gavin Hunt, the 22-year-old dynamic midfielder appeared in 40 games in all competitions and scored four goals. He played a key role in Amakhsoi reaching the CAF Champions League final.
Tempting, isn’t it? He might join Sundowns next season if they make him a better deal. Sundowns gets what they wants no matter what.
