Bafana star ready to reject Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns!

A Bafana Bafana international has dismissed rumours of playing for either Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns next season.

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns seem to both be trying to add a striker to their ranks, for next season.

While Sundowns have two top options already, Chiefs can not claim their attacking options have delivered in the past seasons.

Sundowns boast the duo of Namibian international Peter Shalulile and Brazilian Lucas Ribeiro. While the former’s record in the DStv Premiership needs no introduction, the latter also hit the ground running. But it is no secret that they have been trying to add a target man to their striking force. In January, they were reportedly close to signing Bafana Bafana international Lars Veldwijk. In the end, it is rumoured that not everybody in the hierarchy was convinced he could fit in,

BOTH SUNDOWNS AND CHIEFS

Speaking of targetmen, Chiefs had two in their ranks last season. Ranga Chivaviro joined with a big reputation, having scored 17 goals for relegated Marumo Gallants the previous season. Jasond Gonzalez also came to South African shores with the reputation of being a decent marksman in his native Colombia. Unfortunately both flattered to deceive in Amakhosi colours, scoring four and zero goals each respectively.

So with both Sundowns and Chiefs looking for a new striker for different reasons, they landed on the same target. That being Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba. This publication reported on Tuesday that Masandawana were leading Amakhosi in this pursuit, having already initiated early talks. Now speaking to SAFA media, the striker has dispelled that and any possibility of returning home.

“I will always have offers in Europe. I will always have clubs in Europe. Now I am only focused on my knee injury. Healing and coming back fully fit, that’s why ever since I came back to South Africa, I have been focused and working every morning, every day. I am only off on Sundays, so I have been working every day.” Said Mothiba to SAFA media.

With that being said, it is clear that Mothiba sees his future abroad, rather than at Sundowns or Chiefs.
