A new contract is set to be awarded to one of Kaizer Chiefs’ players.
The Chiefs’ current deal with Akpeyi expires in June.
According to a source at Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has been offered a contract extension, and the keeper is pleased with the salary package offered by the club.
The former Chippa United goalkeeper is nearing the conclusion of his contract with Amakhosi, with his deal set to expire in June, giving him the option to speak to any interested clubs in January.
But, in order to put an end to all of this and secure their man, Chiefs’ management is claimed to have refused to waste time in conversing with Akpeyi in order to keep him at the club.
“I mean, Itumeleng Khune has been missing at the club for a while now, and Akpeyi is more experienced than Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. So, there was no way that they would just let him go. I hear that he has been offered a sweet contract, it’s very sweet in terms of money. But, he is one guy who is very loyal and loves being at Chiefs. I don’t think money would have been a major issue for him at the team,” the insider revealed
Daniel Akpeyi has just got an international call for international duty from his country. He has now firmly established himself as the number one goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs.
